Whole body cryotherapy is the ultimate way to rejuvenate and energise your body. Immersing your whole body in a cryosauna for two to three minutes, you’ll experience sub-zero temperatures that will activate your body’s most powerful and ancient survival system – vasoconstriction. This process causes your blood vessels to constrict and pass blood through to your organs so as to protect them. Your body enriches your blood with oxygen, nutrients and healing enzymes, before sending it back to your muscles and skin.

After your time in our oxygen-mist filled chambers, you’ll experience relieved muscle soreness and pain, accelerated injury recovery, boosted collagen production, reduced cellulite and improved immunity levels. Our state-of-the-art cryosaunas at RLabs are quick and convenient to use.

Why R/Labs for whole body cryotherapy treatments?

At R/Labs, we’re fully committed to embracing the notion that science and technology can have a profound impact on the way we live, move, train and sleep. Feel better in the gym, play better in sports and perform your daily tasks in a more focused and energised way with our full body cryotherapy services.

The team at R/Labs made sure to source the best quality equipment available to provide you with the best possible experience and to deliver the best results.

Our whole body cryotherapy unit converts nitrogen into 100% pure, breathable oxygen which provides a layer of safety all other cryotherapy units do not have. There is a  risk of being burnt in traditional cryotherapy units that pump pure nitrogen into the unit. On top of that, our cryotherapy unit is the only one registered as a medical device with the Therapeutic Goods Administration, meaning that its safety and effectiveness is recognized and validated by our government.

Our brand-new laboratory at Shop 5, 7 Gregory Hills Drive, Gregory Hills, Sydney is a haven for you to recharge, reboost and relax, while treating your body with the utmost respect that it deserves.

01 / Weight loss

Whole body cryotherapy immerses your body in temperatures of below -100 degrees centigrade. During this period, your body could burn as many as 600 to 800 calories, as it works extremely hard to stay warm.

02 / Toning

Full body cryotherapy can have a toning effect, as the sub-zero temperatures cause your fat cells to freeze and die. Your body will then metabolise these cells and eliminate them from your body.

03 / Cellulite

Cellulite is a completely natural feature of our bodies, and is caused by fat cells trapped underneath the skin. Same as for toning, whole body cryotherapy can have an effect on the appearance and reduction of cellulite through freezing and eliminating fat cells.

Have some questions?

What is a cryospa?

Our cryospas are the premier CRYO Arctic™ Chamber models. They’re the safest machines in the industry, and combine futuristic design and state-of-the-art technology with the highest possible safety standards. Unlike other cryotherapy chambers, the CRYO Arctic only exposes you to breathable cold air, and not to harmful nitrogen gas. While in the chamber, you’ll have constant communication with us through the Bluetooth enabled audio, as well as a digital touch screen so you’ll be able to see how long is remaining for your treatment (as well as the temperature inside!)

What is the difference between cryotherapy and taking an ice bath?

An ice bath involves physically sitting in a bath of ice water, and creates a physical sensation where your body is actively trying to warm up, with the key point being physical contact with the ice. Your body goes through a large amount of stress when in an ice bath, and needs to recover after the experience, meaning taking ice baths too often can actually do more harm than good.

Cryotherapy, although it may not seem like it, is actually gentler on the body, and can be performed regularly for extremely beneficial results. It involves using ultra-cooled nitrogen gas to create the sensation that you’re in a very cold environment and signals a response from your central nervous system. Your body temperature will normalise much faster as your deep muscle tissue will not have frozen, while still signalling the same (or some would say even better) adaptations as an ice bath would.

Frequently asked questions

The RLabs team are passionate about ensuring you leave every visit to our laboratory feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and recovered, while receiving the highest standards of safety and care.

01 / What should I wear to my whole body cryotherapy session?

If it’s your first time with us at RLabs, please arrive 10 to 15 minutes before your appointment time so our team can welcome you and discuss any needs you may have.

During your cryosauna treatment, you’ll wear your undergarments or swimwear when in the chamber. Therefore, there’s no special requirements for what to wear before your session.

02 / How cold does a cryosauna get?

Our RLabs cryosaunas can get as cold as -90 to 100 degrees centigrade. While in the cryosauna you will experience extreme dry cold, however it’s been said that cryosaunas are more pleasant than other cold treatments like ice baths, for example.

03 / Who should not use a cryosauna?

People who should seek medical advice before undergoing a local cryo treatment include:

  • Those with major health issues
  • Those with cardiovascular issues (including obesity, diabetes, heart disease, low or high blood pressure and circulatory problems)
  • Those taking prescription drugs
  • Those under the influence of drugs or alcohol
  • The elderly
  • Children
  • Those with chronic conditions or diseases associated with the reduced ability to perspire (multiple sclerosis, central nervous system tumours and diabetes with neuropathy).
  • Hemophiliacs
  • Those experiencing fever
  • Pregnant people
  • Those with joint injuries
  • Those with pacemakers or defibrillators

04 / How many sessions of full body cryotherapy should I have and how often?

Our expert staff at RLabs can work with you to tailor a specific whole body cryotherapy treatment plan that aligns with your goals, schedule and budget. Whether your goal is sports recovery, weight loss or focus and energy, we’ll be able to decide on the perfect amount of sessions for you. For non-professional athletes who are wanting to enhance their recovery, you can do about seven to 10 sessions to start with (in a row), and then drop down to one to two sessions per week for a maintenance phase. For professional athletes, cryotherapy is beneficially performed up to twice per day.
